The Purdue Club of Washington DC is pleased to recognize Ms. Jennifer Munley and Ms. Tiana Hoffer for its eighth annual scholarship award. Both students will be entering Purdue this Fall, 2010.
Jennifer Munley received a $1,000 Scholarship Award, which will be applied during her freshman year in pursuit of a Biomedical Engineering Degree. Jennifer is currently a senior at Linganore High School and is the daughter of Debra and John Munley of Mount Airy, MD.
The Purdue Scholarship Committee selected Jennifer for her numerous academic achievements that includes posting a perfect GPA which ranks her at the top of her class. She belongs to the National Honor Society, National English and Spanish Honor Societies, and was a Maryland Distinguish Scholar Semifinalist. She balances her school load with responsibilities as principal flautist in the Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra and acting as President of the Spanish Honor Society.
Jennifer is looking forward to being challenged at Purdue and sharing in the “school spirit for Purdue’s sports events” when she arrives on campus this Fall.
Tiana Hoffer received the club’s $500 Scholarship Award, which will be applied towards her Nursing degree. Tiana is currently a senior at Robinson Secondary High School in Fairfax, Virginia, and is the daughter of Gilbert and Julia Hoffer from Fairfax.
Tiana was recognized for her leadership accomplishments and impressive academic achievements. She was named to the National Honor Society and received the high school’s Academic Excellence Award with a nearly perfect GPA. She’s able to do this while managing a busy extracurricular schedule including reaching black belt status in Tae Kwon Do, cellist section leader in orchestra, and volunteering at Sunrise Assisted Living.
Tiana is looking forward to “benefiting from Purdue’s exceptional Nursing department and making lifelong friendships and memories while there.”
