2008 Scholarship RECIPIENTS

The Purdue Club of Washington DC is pleased to recognize Ms. Olivia Bozik and Ms. Angela Jump for their sixth annual scholarship award.  Both students will be entering Purdue for the Fall Semester of 2008.

Olivia Bozik
received a $750 Scholarship Award which will be applied during her Freshman year in pursuit of an Engineering Degree at Purdue. Olivia, a Senior of Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland, is the daughter of Deborah and Ron Rudolph (Kensington) and Joseph Bozik (Washington DC).

The Purdue Scholarship Committee selected Olivia for her numerous achievements – beginning with a strong academic record (3.96 out of 4.0 GPA) that extended to being in the National Honors Society and recognized as both the school’s math and science “Student of the Month.”  She was also very active as Captain of her school’s volleyball team and as President and Founder of the Blair's Technology Student Association Chapter. She also volunteered her time as a counselor at the National Presbyterian School’s Summer Horizons Camp for the past six years.

Olivia has an interest in technology and is intrigued by gaining experience during her collegiate education through an engineering co-op program.  She’s excited about joining the Boilermaker Family and eventually designing and engineering automobile interiors!

Angela Jump received the club’s $500 Scholarship Award which will be applied during her Freshman year in pursuit of an Engineering Degree at Purdue. Angela, currently a Senior at Academy of the Holy Cross High School in Kensington, Maryland, is the daughter of Jerome and Jane Jump.

Angela’s accomplishments and impressive academic record garnered the Club’s second scholarship award. Angela nearly posted a 4.0 GPA which was complimented by honors with National Honor Society and French Honor Society.  She stayed involved with the schools’ Swim Team, Crew Team, and captained the YMCA swim team.  Angela also volunteered her time with the Potomac Horse Center as a therapeutic riding volunteer and at the Asbury Methodist Retirement Center.

Angela is looking forward to the opportunities as a future Purdue engineer and being involved with the "Women in Engineering" program – the largest in type of college club in the world.

The Purdue Club received 15 outstanding applications for its sixth annual scholarship to incoming freshmen students from the Greater DC area.  Although able to only select two recipients due to limited funds, the Scholarship Committee certainly recognized that Purdue is the beneficiary of some amazingly gifted students!
